Application Status and Processing Time

The processing time for IDP applications is typically 5 business days, in addition to the selected shipping time.

Digital IDP Requests and Urgent Travel Needs

No. IDPs are only issued in booklet form, as required by international conventions. These conventions mandate a booklet-style format, similar to a passport. A digital version is not available. We recommend making and carrying a photocopy in case the original IDP is lost or damaged.

Tracking and Delivery Issues

You will receive an email with tracking details once your IDP ships. Click the link in that email to track your package. You can also log in to your GovWorks account to view tracking information.
If your application hasn’t entered processing, we can update the return address as long as it’s within the U.S. Once processing begins and a shipping label is printed, changes are no longer possible. We cannot change a domestic address to an international one.
If your package was marked as delivered but you haven't received it, please contact the govWorks support team for assistance. You can also enter your tracking number on the FedEx site to investigate where the package is or file a claim.

Replacements and Refunds

You can request a replacement by reapplying at any AAA Northeast branch or by submitting a new application online. Be sure to have your required documents and payment ready when you reapply.
If your IDP contains errors, please contact our support team for assistance in correcting your IDP.
If your application hasn’t entered processing, AAA can cancel your order and request a refund. Once processing begins, cancellations and refunds are no longer possible. To request a refund, email our support team with your application reference number.

An IDP translates your valid U.S. driver’s license and must be carried with it. It is recognized in over 150 countries, but acceptance depends on each destination’s regulations. Always check local requirements before you travel.
